De Aar

The third largest town in the Northern Cape, is centrally located on the main railway line between Johannesburg, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Namibia. The junction is the second most important railway junction in South Africa, with 110km of railway lines including 29 rail-tracks. De Aar hosts the largest Abattoir in the Southern Hemisphere.

Emthanjeni Municipality approves budget

On 5 May 2011 during a Special Council Meeting, Emthanjeni Municipality adopted the budget and budget related policies for the next financial year from 1 July 2011 up to 30 June 2012.

Emthanjeni Municipality takes ownership of new vehicles

During December 2010 the Municipality embarked on the process of acquiring vehicles through the normal bid process including specialized vehicles and LDV`s. The aim of this exercise is to speed up service delivery and to start replacing the existing fleet of the Municipality.

The value of the acquisitions is estimated at R 9 500 000.00 and Emthanjeni Municipality obtained a loan to finance the vehicles.
