Due to requirements and processes involved in carrying out this work, the water supply to De Aar will be interrupted on Friday, 14 November 2025 from 07:00 to 18:00. The
interruption in water supply is necessary to perform essential maintenance work.We understand the inconvenience this may cause, and assure you that our team will
work diligently to complete the work as quickly as possible.

ATTENTION!

UPDATE REQUIRED FOR ALL PREPAID ELECTRICITY METERS

DEAR CUSTOMERS,

Emthanjeni Municipality is in the final stage of upgrading prepaid meters as per the Standard Transfer Specification (STS) and Token Identifiers (TID) Rollover Prepayment Meter reset that is due on 24 November 2024.

The Municipality is requesting that all customers with NON-STS (meter number usually starts with PT, TA or RT) meters that were not reached during the 2^nd phase, visit the Municipality’s Infrastructure Office before 15 August 2024 with a electricity slip in order to enable the Municipality to upgrade the meter before the deadline date.

The Municipality still has an estimated 600 prepaid meters that have not been rolled over due to the inability to access the households where the meters are located.

Please note that if your meter is not updated by 24 November 2024, you will not be able to purchase prepaid electricity.

The municipality is currently experiencing difficulties with the financial system for the past three weeks. This has significantly affected the issuing of municipal accounts, physical payments at the municipal office, clearance certificates finalisation and general account enquiries. The municipality is engaging with the service provider in order to sort out the difficulties and ensure functioning of the system. The accounts of March 2024 date of issue will be communicated in due course to the community.

The municipality sincerely apologises for all the inconveniences this has caused.

The municipality is encouraging the community to continuously pay their accounts during this period via the Bank through EFT or direct deposits. We encourage the payment of outstanding accounts.

Emthanjeni Municipality Customer Satisfaction Survey 2022/23

Emthanjeni Local Municipality is inviting local residents and clients to participate in our Customer Satisfaction Survey and to provide their input by completing the following survey. Your input will enable the Municipality to improve service delivery within the municipal area. The closing date for the survey will be 06 July 2023.

During a Special Council meeting held on 15 May 2023, the Council of Emthanjeni Municipality appointed Mr Disang Humphrey Molaole as new Municipal Manager from 01 June 2023.

Mr Molaole has more than thirteen years experience in Public Management at Senior Management level which are as follows:

• Chief Financial Officer (five years)
• Senior Manager (three years)
• Municipal Manager (five years)

He holds a Bachelors of Commerce Degree obtained from the University of Western Cape, a Post Graduate Diploma (CPMD) in Business Law Finance obtained from WITS University and was appointed as Lecturer at Moremogolo Campus, Northern Cape Urban FET College from 1997 till 2003 in the section for Business, Economics, Human Resource Management and Entrepreneurship.

He was appointed as Chief Financial Officer at Ga-Segonyana Municipality from 2003 until 2008; appointed as Director at the Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (COGHSTA) Northern Cape for three years where he was seconded to Renosterberg Municipality from 2015 till 2018 and the municipality managed to achieve a qualified audit opinion after 12 years of disclaimers.

He furthermore assisted John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipality and the municipality managed to obtain 3 clean audits during the financial years 2018/19, 2019/20 & 2020/21 respectively under his leadership.

Mr Molaole is a performance and result driven individual with extensive knowledge and abilities in the following areas: GRAP Standards for implementation and reporting purpose, adherence to audit and outcomes, sustaining high standards and compulsion to high competencies, Strategic Planning, Implementation of projects (Social Economic and Infrastructure), Financial & Economic Management skills and Supply Chain Management.

We trust that our newly appointed Municipal Manager’s command of local government knowledge and expertise will aid in the fulfilment of all duties and responsibilities related to the office and wish him all the best in his new role.

BILLING SYSTEM MIGRATION

We hereby inform the public that the Municipality is migrating to a new debtors billing system in accordance with the National Treasury System Requirements.

To ensure that our billing system is streamlined, we hereby request that consumers visit their local Municipal Office (De Aar, Hanover or Britstown) to update their contact details, including phone numbers and email addresses.

This will assist the Municipality with addressing all concerns, queries and system errors as quickly and appropriately as possible. We kindly request your patience as we address these matters.

We acknowledge the frustration experienced by some of our community members regarding their Municipal accounts. We would like to reassure the community of Emthanjeni that we are working extremely hard to ensure a smooth transition.

Today 16 March 2018, ESKOM published a notice(Volksblad) of their intention to interrupt the power supply to Emthanjeni Municipality and they are affording community members the opportunity to submit input as to why the supply should not be interrupted.

Our response to this notice, is that we are currently engaged in negotiations with ESKOM on the matter and we have not yet reached a deadlock. Our residents should therefore remain calm and leave the matter in the hands of the Municipality.

We do however URGE/PLEAD with our residents to pay for their services, to avert such situations. Those who pay their accounts every month in full must please continue to do so and those who do not pay, we will continue to implement the Credit Control policy of the municipality.

We will communicate further on the matter in due course.
